Coinbase review

Buy crypto on Coinbase

If you’re looking to join the cryptocurrency revolution by buying Bitcoin for the very first time, you’ll likely want to use a platform like Coinbase.

The reason for this is that this broker tailors its website to the newbie investor. For example, it takes just minutes to open a Coinbase account, and you can buy Bitcoin with a debit card or bank account.

With that being said, Coinbase does come with its flaws – especially in the fees department. As such, I would suggest reading my in-depth Coinbase review prior to taking the plunge. I cover factors such as user-friendliness, fees, commissions, safety, and customer support.

Channels to Learn from on YouTube

Last updated: September 12, 20231 Comment

I have always learned best when I am learning on my own rather than at school or in a class environment, bar a few exceptions.

These days we can count ourselves incredibly lucky to have YouTube and other video sites where we can access an incredible wealth of knowledge for free or at low cost.

Since YouTube gets annoying pretty quickly with ads, you can use an ad blocker or just pay for premium. Youtube Premium is cheaper in India, Argentina and Turkey especially.

I’ll keep adding to these as I discover them, and if you have any suggestions just leave a comment at the end.

History

I think it’s very important for anyone who wants to have serious discussions and conversations about important topics to have a good grasp on world history.

So many people form erroneous ideas of how things work just because they don’t have the right background on how we arrived at this stage in our human development.

eToro Review 2026 – Is it a Reliable Broker?

Last updated: January 15, 202611 Comments

Note: This review only applies to non-US residents.

eToro is a Jack of all Trades in the online investment space, with the broker offering a full range of asset types that can be purchased at the click of a button. On top of traditional stocks, ETFs, and thousands of CFD (Contract For Differences) products (CFDs are not available in the US though) – eToro also allows you to buy and sell cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

If you are thinking about using eToro, I welcome you to read my in-depth review. I cover the ins and outs of what you need to know before opening an account – including metrics surrounding regulation, fees, commissions, payment methods, and of course – safety.

Open an eToro account

*76% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

What is eToro?

Launched in 2006, eToro is an online broker and trading platform. As a member of the site, you will have access to a full range of asset classes. In terms of traditional ownership – you can buy and sell over 800 stocks from a number of international markets, as can you do with ETFs. Moreover, eToro is also home to thousands of CFD products – including but not limited to hard metals, energies, indices, interest rates, and currencies.

With that being said, if you’re more interested in the cryptocurrency side of the platform – the broker gives you the best of both worlds. This is because you can invest in digital currencies and retain full ownership of the asset, or alternatively, trade via CFDs. As I cover in greater depth further down, eToro does not allow you to withdraw your cryptocurrencies out to a private wallet. Instead, you will need to keep your coins on the platform, making it a better option for those who want to profit from trading rather than hold crypto assets for the long term.

✈️ Can Digital Nomads Legally Pay No Taxes?

Last updated: April 21, 202169 Comments

digital nomad tax

I spent a good part of my twenties traveling around the world during what was the start of the digital nomad movement.

A recurring theme that I used to hear about was the possibility of optimizing taxes by being a digital nomad.

Just walk in any co-working space in South-East Asia, and a 20 y.o. white guy from the EU or Canada will swear that flying circles in Thailand, Bali, and Vietnam for all year means that nobody has the right to tax his income.

At the time I had decided to keep things simple by just paying tax in my home country where I had always paid as a self-employed person.

Need travel and health insurance for digital nomads?
Check out SafetyWing.

When I started to hear all the strategies others were using, however, I started to feel a bit stupid for not having optimized things. So I embarked on a journey to learn as much as possible about all the options available for legal tax optimization.

It turns out that the strategy I had opted was actually one of the safest ways to act as a digital nomad. The “clever” tactics many others were using were grey area legal schemes at best but mostly just plain old tax evasion that would most likely lead them into trouble later.

To this day, as the digital nomad revolution has grown, I still hear many of these strategies bandied around, so I thought I’d have a go at outlining how I think a digital nomad should pay his/her taxes.

How to Remove DRM from Amazon Books

Last updated: November 15, 20206 Comments

remove drm amazon

If you buy ebooks for Amazon’s Kindle, you’ll have realized that they come with copy protection called Digital Rights Management (DRM).

Unfortunately, the Kindle format is not compatible with all other ebook reading devices, so you’ll run into trouble if you want to use a tool like Calibre to convert your purchased books into a format compatible with your reading device unless that device happens to be a Kindle, in which case you’re good.

The solution is to use two plugins for Calibre as detailed in this excellent guide. Since I’m on a Mac, I could not get an older version of Kindle to work on Catalina, so I installed a virtualized Windows 8 and I was able to set up everything without a glitch.

Notes

  • If Calibre gives you an error like `ERROR: Unhandled exception: InvalidPlugin:The plugin in C:\\Users\\Me\\Downloads\\DeDRM_tools_6.6.1.zip’ is invalid. It does not contain a top-level __init__.py file`, you’re trying to load the full archive folder into Calibre. Instead you need to open up the .zip file you downloaded and drill down a couple of levels. Using this example the file you want is C:\Users\Me\Downloads\DeDRM_tools_6.6.1.zip\DeDRM_calibre_plugin\DeDRM_plugin.zip.
  • If you’re trying to de-DRM Amazon’s newer .kfx files, you’ll also need to install the KFX conversion plugin(link is external).
